Opening Session and Student Panel: Empowering LTELs Through Reflection, Research and Action
Tuesday April 29, 2025 8:45am - 9:40am PDT
At Helix High our LTEL students, particularly 9th graders, were unaware of their language proficiency status. To address this, they created a unit to be used at the beginning of the school year aimed at helping students understand their EL/LTEL status and empowering them to overcome their academic and linguistic challenges. In this session, they will share both the unit and student voices.

Join us as we share some ways to center UDL as a focus for Differentiated Assistance to support educators in planning for our most marginalized students, while meeting the needs of all students. We will engage in a troubleshooting protocol utilizing UDL to address DA indicators including academics (e.g. mathematics), chronic absenteeism, and/or suspension.

Leveraging School Counselors in LCAP Priorities 6 & 8 for Student Success
Tuesday April 29, 2025 12:45pm - 1:35pm PDT
School counselors play a critical yet often underutilized role in supporting LCAP Priority 6 (School Climate) and Priority 8 (Other Student Outcomes). This session will explore how districts can strategically integrate school counselors into their Differentiated Assistance improvement plans to enhance student achievement, equity, and overall school climate.

Participants will learn how to leverage data-driven counseling programs to address student needs, create safe and supportive learning environments, and promote college, career, and life readiness. Through interactive discussion and real-world district examples, attendees will gain actionable strategies to incorporate counseling expertise into multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), restorative practices, T-SEL initiatives, and data-driven decision-making.

Whether your district is refining its improvement plan or reimagining student support structures, this session will provide tools to maximize the impact of school counselors in fostering a positive school climate and improving student outcomes. Ideal for district leaders, administrators, and LCAP teams.

Beyond Engagement: Cultivating Home-School Partnerships to Elevate Student Outcomes and Foster Positive Behavior"
Tuesday April 29, 2025 12:45pm - 1:35pm PDT
So many efforts and initiatives require family and community engagement yet education leaders who often have good intentions find that their efforts do not produce the results they hope for. In this experiential session, participants will learn from diverse perspectives in an interactive format from “panelists” who have experience navigating the education system as parents. In the spirit of prioritizing deep shifts over quick fixes in our improvement work, this session aims to provide a space to slow down and listen before moving to action with a focus on root causes and critical self-reflection. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and contribute to the discussion in this flipped panel format.
